Telford Conservatives select Lucy Allan

The membership selected Lucy on Tuesday 26th March 2013, at a meeting held at the Oak Tree Centre, Lightmore Village.

Originally from Worcestershire, Lucy Allan is a Chartered Accountant with a background in business turnaround and has a Masters degree in Law. A former Conservative Councillor, Lucy runs a campaign and lobby group, Family First, which seeks to reduce the number of the children entering state care.

Lucy Allan said: ‘I am delighted to have been selected by Telford Conservatives as their candidate. Every year hundreds of people come to Telford to live, work and make their home and I am doing just that. I want people in Telford to have the tools to build a successful future: jobs, training and strong families are key.’

I will use my business experience to work with local business to promote apprenticeships.  Telford has a history of finding creative solutions to overcome challenges and that tradition inspires me in these difficult economic times.’

Of her role as a family champion, Lucy said: ‘Record numbers of children are entering the care system which so often fails them. Much more can be done to ensure that children stay safely at home with their families. I will work to support struggling families in Telford.’

Lucy is married to Robin, they have one son.
